Do Your Hands Give Away Your Age?

While spending hundreds of dollars on anti-aging face creams and cosmetic procedures, women often neglect to take care of the skin on their hands, which can give away their true age.

Next time you smooth that pricey anti-aging cream onto your face, take a look at the skin on your hands, too. As Emily Velez of Revision Skincare, points out: “The hands show a person’s true age more than any other part of the body. We wash and strip them of natural oils, the hands also end up with more sun damage due to constant exposure, and they lose fat and volume as we age, which leads them to have a bony and veiny appearance.”

Cue a rise in the number of anti-aging treatments hitting the shelves that are especially formulated for the hands. “The hands age differently from all other parts of the body, so having a product that targets those differences is so important,” Velez says. “Revision Skincare’s Lumiquin® is an anti-aging product specifically for the hands that should be used nightly to brighten skin and reduce the appearance of age spots and uneven pigmentation.”

But simply moisturizing is not enough. “Don’t forget to exfoliate the skin on the hands. It will keep them fresh and smooth by removing dead skin cells and preparing them for other anti-aging products,” adds Velez. “And always apply a moisturizing sunscreen daily and continue to apply when out in the sun. I love Revision Skincare’s Multi-Protection Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 for its multi-tasking ability to protect the skin with sunscreen ingredients, antioxidants, and its blend of three new peptides that help skin appear firmer.”
